Tug driver in stable condition after collision with plane at O’Hare Airport

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The driver of a tug vehicle at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport is now in stable condition after an accident Saturday night.

Police say the 64-year-old driver was trying to cross an active taxiway around 7 p.m. when he was hit by an Air Wisconsin CRJ-200 that had just landed from Kalamazoo.

The tug vehicle flipped over after it was hit by the wing of the plane, according to police. The worker was pinned under it.

The driver was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition with injuries to his head and lower body.

According to FlightAware, that aircraft can seat up to 50 passengers but it is unclear how full this flight was.
