(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two firefighters from southwest suburban Bolingbrook rescued a Great Blue Heron that ran into trouble Wednesday.
The bird got tangled up in fishing line, says Cindy Cain of the Forest Preserve District of Will County. Fortunately, two Bolingbrook firefighters were training on Whalon Lake and were alerted by volunteers about the animal's distress.
The firefighters were able to untangle the heron and watch it fly away, Cain said.
"The one volunteer, she said she had a tear in her eye because it was just so wonderful," she said.
