Claire Anderson had never picked up a hockey stick in her life. She found herself on the Blackhawks ice during Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
Anderson was chosen for the Blackhawks Shoot the Puck contest and to her surprise she made the shot — and won a little more.

“All I could think to myself is, this isn’t real. It can’t be real. I couldn’t believe I made the shot," Anderson said. "Then not two seconds later I turned around and boom, not only did I win a free round-trip flight, but I won a fiancé on top of it."
Her boyfriend, Jeremy Brick, had planned the surprise proposal with the help of the Blackhawks organization and his friend, DJ Oreo. Brick, a lifelong Blackhawks fan, said he planned to attend a few games throughout the season to support his friend.
“Oreo had another trick up his sleeve and was able to help us get an opportunity to shoot the puck through his partnership with the Blackhawks. From there, all I had to do was show up to the game and make sure the secret was kept safe,” Brick said.
Anderson and Brick had been together for two years. Anderson is still in disbelief over the proposal.
“I could have never dreamed of such an amazing series of events in my life. I still am asking myself, ‘Is this real?’” Anderson said.
Getting engaged on the ice was a dream come true for the couple. Brick said he was born a Hawks fan and he lives a few blocks away from the stadium.
“Being able to not only shoot a puck on sacred ice that so many greats have played, but to then get to propose to the girl of my dreams on that same sheet of ice was just mind melting,” Brick said.
The couple shared their gratitude and appreciation for the entire Blackhawks organization emphasizing their thanks for helping them create a memory they will never ever forget.
