(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — DePaul’s College of Computing and Digital Media is getting a large donation from a famous video game designer.
The college will be named after donor Eugene Jarvis following the gift from Jarvis and his wife, DePaul alumna and trustee Sasha Gerritson.
The amount was not disclosed, but the donated is said to be the largest in the school’s history.
The gift will also create a student center at the university’s Loop campus that will allow students to meet experts in residence. This is a position Jarvis himself held, sharing some of his knowledge in creating the arcade games Defender and Robotron: 2084.

The couple lives in Glenview and has donated to the Catholic university before, giving to the music school where Gerritson earned a certificate in opera in 1999.
Jarvis said it’s been thrilling to help grow DePaul’s video game design program and see it flourish.
