NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Visitations were held Saturday for two young local men killed during a music festival crowd stampede in Houston on November 5.

Lifelong friends, 21-year-old Franco Pitino and Jacob Juranek, who was 20, were among nine people whose deaths are now attributed to a crowd crush during a performance at the Astroworld Music Festival in Houston.

The two men met during grade school in Naperville. Both went on to graduate from the same high school. They were described by friends and educators alike as “big characters” in a life lived with strong friendships, according to CBS 2.

Patino was a senior at the University of Dayton in Ohio where he majored in mechanical engineering technology and minored in human movement biomechanics and Jurinek was a junior at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, studying advertising and journalism.

The visitations for both Patino and Jiraneck were held on the same day at the same venue, Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes and Crematory in Naperville, where funeral masses will also be held for the two on Nov. 20.
