(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The village of Dixmoor has been working to repair two water main breaks over the weekend, months after the village experienced over a dozen such breaks in quick succession.

Village President Fitzgerald Roberts announced that one of the water main breaks took place at 144th and Paulina Streets, and the other took place at 141st and Wood Streets.

Roberts provided no timetable regarding when the mains would be repaired, but he did say no boil order has been issued at this time.

“We have crews working on the breaks and they are working as fast as they can to get them fixed,” Roberts said in a press release. “It is our hope these two breaks are isolated incidents. The last thing we need is to trigger another round of multiple water breaks like we had at the beginning of the year.”

Roberts said village officials will make additional announcements about any boil orders if necessary. The president requested patience from village residents as they work to make repairs.

He previously stated that the water lines in Dixmoor are more than 100 years old, and it will cost $49.5 million to replace them.
