INDIANAPOLIS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 27-year-old Indiana woman who killed three young children and injured a fourth when she drove around a stopped school bus in 2018 has been freed from prison.
Alyssa Shepherd was freed about six months early, following a four-year prison sentence for reckless homicide – a sentence that the family called a slap in the face and the Fulton County prosecutor thought was too lenient.

Shepherd killed 6-year-old twin brothers and their 9-year-old sister as they were about to board their school bus in Rochester, Indiana.
Their mother said in a statement, “this person has been a constant jar of salt to my huge wound.”
The mother of an 11-year-old boy who survived the crash said her son was thrown 66 feet and had more than 20 surgeries.
Shepherd was initially eligible for release last December but a judge sided with the family and the prosecutor and prevented that.
Shepherd’s driver’s license has been suspended for 10 years.
