
MICHIGAN CITY, IND. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Charges are being filed in connection with the death of a toddler run over by a car in Michigan City.
Colleen Hopper, 30 was arrested on reckless homicide. WSBT-TV said that a judge found sufficient evidence to charge Hopper. Footage from a video camera showed her operating a vehicle while using what appeared to be a cellphone, according to court documents.
Hopper was backing her car out of her home when the 23-month-old was struck. She could face anywhere from a 1-6 year sentence on the level five felony offense.
