(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A woman who went missing after her sailboat capsized in Lake Michigan was found near Winnetka following an hourslong search on Monday morning.

Winnetka fire officials said the two women in their 50s were on the sailboat at about dusk when it flipped on Lake Michigan.

One woman was able to swim about two miles to the shore at Tower Road Beach and alerted authorities that her companion was missing. At this point, officials said it was 2 a.m. on Monday.

A search and rescue mission got underway, and the Coast Guard found the woman about a mile off shore, north of Winnetka.

Crews brought the woman to Chicago's Montrose Harbor, and she was then taken to the hospital.

Officials said the boat launched from Evanston. Both women were wearing life preservers. The boat was located 2 – 3 miles from the shore.
