(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The 27-year-old Uptown woman originally charged with a felony for vandalizing a police memorial has now pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and was sentenced to probation.
The sentence is two years’ probation and 100 hours of community service for Anna Kochakian.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office says she pleaded guilty last Friday to criminal damage to property -- a misdemeanor. She had been charged with a felony.
Prosecutors say Kochakian removed a photo of Chicago Police Officer Ella French from a memorial at the Thompson Center and crumpled up the photo, filming herself and posting it on social media.
The state's attorney’s office says this all happened less than two weeks after Officer French was shot and killed in the line of duty in the summer of 2021.
