CRETE TOWNSHIP, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A woman who was stabbed multiple times in an aggravated battery incident in Crete Township in Will County Thursday evening, has been released from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.  The male victim involved in the incident was stabbed over a dozen times and remains in critical condition, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office accused a 36-year-old man of attacking the 66-year-old woman and 68-year-old man in their home on Shady Grove Court.

The suspect suffered from multiple stab wounds and also remains in critical condition.

Officials have been informed that a possible motive for the attack was that the suspect had been angry at his mother-in-law and father-in-law, the victims, about a divorce between him and their daughter and having to report to jail the following day to serve his sentence related to a previous arrest for domestic battery against his wife, the Will County Sheriff's office said in a statement.

When police arrived at the scene, the older victims had been stabbed and was bleeding profusely.

The suspect, who is from Wisconsin, was also found injured in the home. He had to be airlifted to a Chicago hospital.

Authorities said a gun might have been fired inside and outside the home — but it does not appear anyone was shot.
