It could have been a serious, or even deadly accident if not for the actions of some Good Samaritans.
Alarming cell phone video, shot Thursday night at the 95th Annual National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, Michigan, shows bystanders rushing to stop a carnival ride from toppling over.
As people in the area noticed what was happening, more than a dozen ran up and took action to grab hold and steady the wobbling Magic Carpet Ride .
There were some tense moments, but their efforts did the trick.
The ride was occupied by multiple people at the time of the incident, although it's not clear exactly how many.
A witness told UpNorthLive that the incident happened around 11 p.m., and that the ride was then shut down.
It does not appear that anyone was hurt.
A call by WWJ Newsradio 950 to Arnold Amusements, which operates the festival's midway, was not immediately returned on Friday. Festival organizers have yet to comment.
While not known to be as sturdy as rides at permanent amusement parks like Cedar Point, carnival rides remain a popular attraction at festivals statewide throughout the summer. In Michigan, such rides are required to by routinely checked for safety and regulated by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
