
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are investigating the death of a 63-year-old man who died after he was punched for bumping into a pedestrian on a East Harlem street in April.
On Thursday, April 20, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of an aided, unconscious man at the intersection of East 105th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers observed Charles Cunningham unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the ground.
EMS transported Cunningham to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Friday, April 21.
Police initially believed Cunningham had been the victim of an accidental fall, the Daily News reported.
Further investigation revealed Cunningham was assaulted by another unknown man at the incident location, leading to his condition.
According to officials, Cunningham accidentally bumped into a man who then turned around and punched him in the face.
The NYPD have now deemed the incident a Homicide.
There have been no arrests made and the investigation remains ongoing.
