A spectacular football season came to an end over the weekend for Newberry College as they fell in the NCAA Division II (Two) National Semifinals. The Wolves lost 49-17 at undefeated and top ranked Ferris State in Michigan, Saturday.
The Bulldogs outscored Newberry 28-0 after the game was 21-17 late in the 1st half. The two teams traded punches and their were players ejected after Ferris State scored in the 3rd quarter to go up 41-17. Newberry finishes with their best season in program history at 12-2.
They won the South Atlantic Conference Title and had three wins in the playoffs, with two of them coming on the road.
Ferris State moves to 15-0 on the season and will play for the DII National Title this coming Saturday. A win would give them back to back National Titles and would mark their 4th in the last 5 seasons.
