Just before 1 a.m., officials received calls about a man in an SUV heading eastbound on the westbound side near exit 11 on the Belt Parkway.

The 54-year-old driver in an Infiniti QX4 then struck and side-swiped several vehicles along the way before colliding head-on with a Nissan Altima being driven by a 79-year-old man near exit 13, police said.

The drivers were rushed to Brookdale Hospital where they were pronounced dead, the NYPD said.

Both vehicles had no additional passengers, according to cops.

The westbound lane on the Belt Parkway was shut down as an investigation by the NYPD's Highway Collision Squad continues.
