NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Throw this man a bone!
Mayor Eric Adams told 1010 WINS on Friday that he longs for a pet pooch at Gracie Mansion, revealing "I want a dog so bad," just a day after meeting with the city's honorary dog mayor at City Hall.
Asked by 1010 WINS' Susan Richard if New Yorkers might "finally see a four-legged family member" at the mayor's official residence in Yorkville, Adams waxed nostalgic about his family's old pup and talked about the joy pets bring.
"I had one as a child," the mayor said. "His name was Speedy. And, you know, that relationship between a dog and a human being—I am dying for a dog. I think, the next couple of months, I'm going to try to convince everyone that we need a dog."

"I would love a dog running around here at City Hall and Gracie Mansion," he continued. "You know, let's get one. I'm going to have New Yorkers name it and tell me the best one to get."
It was just on Thursday that Adams met with Sally, a basset hound who's the city's first dog mayor, at City Hall.
October is National Pet Wellness Month, a time dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of pets.
