NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Spring is in full swing, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden launched its 2025 CherryWatch interactive map so visitors can catch the cherry blossoms, which will soon reach peak bloom.
The tool is updated daily to provide the status on more than 150 cherry trees in the BBG’s Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, on Cherry Esplanade and Cherry Walk, Bonsai Museum and elsewhere.
The map lists the 30+ species and cultivars of cherry tree as in either prebloom, first bloom, peak bloom or post-peak bloom.
To accompany cherry blossom season, the garden is also offering programming throughout April and May meant to draw on and celebrate Japanese cultural traditions with a Brooklyn twist.
Hanami Nights and Weekends in Bloom offer live music, dance and specialty food and drink. While the four-days of Hanami Nights are sold out, tickets are still available for Weekends in Bloom between April 26 and May 11.
The start of cherry blossom season runs up against other spring-flowering collections, and the BBG will also see a blooming cascade from April to May in its Magnolia Plaza, Daffodil Hill, Bluebell Wood, Tree Peony Collection and Lilac Collection and Osborne Garden.
A full schedule of spring activities and performances can be found on the BBG’s website.
