NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The Department of Sanitation is continuing trash pickup through Memorial Day weekend for the first time ever this year.

The new service will also extend to composting and recycling.

Those who are normally slated for Monday trash and compost collection should put garbage on the curb Sunday evening for collection on Monday.

Those with recycling collection on Mondays should put material on the curb Monday evening for collection starting Tuesday.

Remember, new rules dictating when trash can be placed on the curb still apply.

That means containers with secure lids can go out at 6 p.m. and non-containerized trash can go out at 8 p.m.
