NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Authorities released photos on Thursday of two suspects wanted for a violent assault on a 73-year-old man who was defending a pregnant woman while aboard an Upper West Side MTA bus earlier this month.

The incident took place on Friday, June 5, at approximately 6:30 p.m. According to police, the victim was riding an M104 bus near Broadway and West 92nd Street when he noticed the suspects harassing a pregnant woman about her carriage blocking the path on the bus.

The two suspects then engaged him in a verbal altercation and the confrontation rapidly escalated as the suspects began punching the victim repeatedly across his head and body. During the assault, one of the suspects brandished a knife and stabbed the man in his left shoulder, police said.

Both suspects fled the bus on foot to an unknown location. EMS transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was treated and listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
