NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The MTA is readying a new all-in-one app that will replace the agency's multiple apps that commuters are required to use. On Tuesday, the agency announced that riders can sign up to beta test it before its public release later this year.

The new MTA app will feature live schedules and service alerts for subways, buses, LIRR, and Metro-North Railroad. Disabled customers will also be able to book Access-a-Ride trips directly through the app.

“If we want more customers to use public transit, providing travel tools that are easy and intuitive is key,” said MTA officer Shanifah Rieara.

Commuters will get the chance to determine how easy and intuitive the app is to use. The new app, which was co-developed with "smart mobility" software company Axon Vibe, will automatically replace the MYmta app on the Apple Store and Google Play Store, as well as on phones where it's already installed.

The link for the beta test sign-up, as provided by the MTA, can be found here. After riders sign up, the MTA will email them a link to download the beta app.
