NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man used a cardboard box to beat an MTA train operator who awoke him on a 7 train in Queens on Monday night.

The train operator, a 37-year-old man, woke up the suspect at the Flushing–Main Street station around 10:20 p.m.

When he did, the irate man grabbed a cardboard box and whacked the MTA worker with it, police said.

The victim suffered pain to his face and nose. He was transported by EMS to Flushing Hospital Medical Center, where he was in stable condition.

No arrests had been reported Tuesday as the investigation continued.

Monday’s attack was just the latest against a transit worker in recent weeks.

MTA bus operators were sprayed in the face, bashed with a wrench and whacked with a purse in recent attacks in Brooklyn and the Bronx, according to police. An MTA conductor was also punched in the face unprovoked at Grand Central station.
