NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Buses were rerouted at Port Authority Bus Terminal for hours on Wednesday morning after a two-bus crash injured a dozen people, officials said.

Authorities responded just after 6 a.m. after two coach buses collided—one rear-ending the other—on a terminal ramp at West 40th Street and Ninth Avenue in Midtown.

At a press conference later in the morning, FDNY Deputy Chief Jason Saffon said that there were 12 patients in total. One had moderate injuries and had to be extricated from a bus, while 10 others had minor injuries and were hospitalized. One person declined medical attention at the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The crash temporarily closed the express bus lane ramp, and all bus traffic was being rerouted to the upper level of the terminal, officials said. The express lane had reopened shortly before 10 a.m., though disruptions were continuing.

NJ Transit said bus service was temporarily diverted to Secaucus Junction, Newark Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal, though normal service had returned by late morning.
