NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Texas man who was charged in the Capitol siege allegedly made a death threat to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The Justice Department said Garret Miller was arrested Wednesday, with a detention hearing scheduled for Monday.

Miller was charged with a number of offenses, including trespassing and making death threats, according to CNN.

Prosecutors allege he tweeted “assassinate AOC” and also said the law enforcement officer who shot and killed a Trump supporter during the siege “deserves to die.”

Ocasio-Cortez responded to news of his arrest on Twitter Friday evening.

According to prosecutors, Miller posted a Facebook selfie in which he wrote, “Just wanted to incriminate myself a little”

In her tweet, Ocasio-Cortez included that quote along with: “Well, you did!”

According to court documents, Miller posted on social media frequently before and during the siege, including writing that a “civil war could start” and “next time we bring the guns.”

Miller's lawyer told CNN that he “certainly regrets what he did.”

“He did it in support of former President (Donald) Trump, but regrets his actions. He has the support of his family, and a lot of the comments, as viewed in context, are really sort of misguided political hyperbole. Given the political divide these days, there is a lot of hyperbole," attorney Clint Broden told the outlet.
