NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A suspect was shot and killed by federal agents at a New Jersey home on Wednesday morning amid a kidnapping investigation out of Philadelphia, authorities said.
The FBI arrived at the apartment building on Grand Avenue, near Lakeview Avenue, in Leonia with a search warrant around 6 a.m., according to authorities.
Agents from the FBI Newark and Philadelphia field offices involved in the kidnapping investigation got into a "confrontation with subjects" at the home, the FBI said in a statement.
During the confrontation, a man was shot and killed by FBI agents, authorities said. It's not known if the person who was fatally shot was armed, or if they fired at law enforcement officers or threatened them with a weapon.
A kidnapping victim was safely rescued, and there are no threats to the community, according to authorities.
Officials continued to investigate at a massive crime scene around the home on Wednesday morning.
