Devonta Freeman has been tagged as the Falcons No. 1 back but has only managed 2.2 yards per carry.

"I think the criticism of Freeman has been a little bit overblown," Falcons Radio Network analyst Dave Archer said.

"I think Free certainly has not gotten into the rhythm that we would like to see him get into but I'm not sure any of our running game has gotten into a rhythm."

Freeman, who missed most of the 2018 season with a groin injury, is still trying to find his footing.

"I think the criticism of Devonta Freeman, or that he's not the same guy, is way too premature right now," Archer continued. "I think that he just hadn't been given the opportunity for as many runs."
