During Wednesday’s 14-6 blowout of the Miami Marlins, Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. struck out in a very unconventional way. The strikeout came courtesy of Marlins catcher Jacob Stallings, who was on the mound because of baseball’s new rules regarding position players being allowed to pitch only during deficits of 10 runs or more.
Acuña Jr. was fooled by the change of speeds from Stallings, who tossed pitches of 45 and 85 MPH during the at-bat.
