When you think of guys that are irreplaceable on the Atlanta Falcons you think of guys like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Michael Penix Jr., and Chris Lindstrom, and those guys are definitely high on the list, maybe even the top four, but earlier today The Morning Shift explained why tight end Charlie Woerner is one of the Falcons' most irreplaceable players as well.

“He might be the one guy that when I look at this offense I think we cannot do without him.” Mike Johnson said

Beau Morgan agreed with Mike’s sentiment and followed up by talking about how guys like Bijan Robinson and Drake London have solid backups or at least good alternate options in Tyler Allgeier for Bijan and guys like Darnell Mooney, Kyle Pitts, Ray-Ray McCloud, Casey Washington, and Chris Blair for Drake, but in the Falcons’ current tight end room there’s no replacement for Woerner.

“Who replaces him? I don’t know on this roster right now between Feleipe [Franks], [Teagan] Quitoriano, [Nikola] Kalinic, and I don’t think [Joshua] Simon is that guy who replaces Woerner”. Beau said

Beau also said that Charlie is this “hybrid” tight end/fullback type of player who’s “a very good blocker, but he can still make a catch or two if needed”.

Woerner actually joined The Morning Shift earlier in the show, and when they asked him about his role he described it as a “swiss army knife role of kind of mixing the traditional fullback with all the motions with the traditional tight end”.

There’s probably not too many guys in the NFL that have the versatility to be an effective blocking tight end, pass catching tight end, and fullback like Charlie Woerner does, and that is exactly why he’s one of the Falcons’ most irreplaceable players.
