“It’s a black eye on the program," Dennis Dodd said about the arrests happening in and around the UGA football program. "I mean let’s be honest, not casting any aspersions at Kirby [Smart], but they gotta get their arms around this, and it just doesn’t look good.”
Dodd, a national college football writer for CBS Sports, had that to say on The Morning Shift Wednesday. Dodd also talked about all these incidents seeming like they are isolated, but as they keep happening the incidents start to seem less and less isolated.
“It looks like they are isolated incidents, but as they keep coming and coming and coming," Dodd said. "It’s getting harder and harder and harder to look at them that way. So something needs to be done.”
Smart did confirm Tuesday at the SEC spring meetings in Destin, that players arrested for speeding this year will be punished, but also “educated” as well.
The hope is obviously that these incidents will stop, and this will be the end of it, but if these incidents and arrests continue to happen, Kirby Smart is going to have to make a real example out of somebody, and maybe that will be the message the rest of the players and team needs.
