No. 5 Georgia takes on No. 8 Florida in Jacksonville for the yearly rivalry that almost always decides who wins the SEC East.
This year that should be no different as both teams enter the Cocktail Party already with a loss. Whichever team wins on Saturday should have a clear path to the December 19 SEC Championship Game.
While it's expected that the SEC West's representative is going to be Alabama, that certainly isn't official yet.
Even thought both UGA and Florida come into the game ranked in the top 10, the story and expectations for their seasons are vastly different. Florida is continually chasing Georgia while Georgia is still chasing a national championship.
For UGA it's key that the Bulldogs win this game. But most fans would admit that just beating Florida isn't enough, they want another shot at Alabama and a chance in the College Football Playoff.
Back on October 17, the Bulldogs traveled to Tuscaloosa and got beat 41-24 by Alabama. But they left that game wondering what could have been.
Georgia was actually leading 24-20 at halftime before things fell off. And while the scoreline showed another Alabama blowout, the competition on the field was much closer than that.
It's obvious that Georgia thinks it belongs on the field with Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. But to get a chance to prove that, they will first have to beat Florida this weekend.
