The 2022 Heisman Trophy Award was handed out on Saturday night and it was a runaway as USC QB Caleb Williams finished well ahead of the other three finalists.
Georgia QB Stetson Bennett finished in 4th place, closer to 5th place (Hendon Hooker) than he was to 3rd place (CJ Stroud.) The bigger surprise may have been how big an edge TCU QB Max Duggan had as runner-up.
Caleb Williams ended up with 2,031 points including 544 first place votes, while Duggan totaled 1,420 points followed by C.J. Stroud's 539 points and Stetson's 349 points.
Stetson Bennett's 349 points was closer to Hendon Hooker's 5th place finish (226 points) than it was to Stroud and 3rd place. Stetson Bennett received just 36 first place votes.
Caleb Williams becomes the 8th USC player to win the Heisman Trophy, including Reggie Bush in 2005 although he eventually vacated that trophy.
