FLORENCE, Calif. (KNX) — An attempted carjacking in Florence ended with a collision Friday night, according to Los Angeles police.

The crash occurred at 7:37 p.m. on East 74th Street, according to the LAPD. The LAPD reported the crash in the 400 block; but that conflicted with a report by the L.A. Fire Department of a crash in the 600 block.

The collision was prompted by two alleged carjackers who pulled up alongside the vehicle and attempted to take it from the driver. The driver then hit the accelerator, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a house.

The LAFD initially reported that one person was transported to the hospital. The LAPD contended two children under the age of 10 were in the house at the time of the crash and were only taken to an area hospital as a precaution. They were not believed to be injured.

Neither was the victim injured. The alleged carjackers fled the scene.

L.A. Department of Building and Safety officials were notified to conduct a safety assessment of the impacted building.
