It looks like the old Penguins logo from the early 1990s could be making a comeback this season.

For the third consecutive season, the NHL will be unveiling another retro jersey.

That could mean the logo that has been described as a pidegon could be worn on the chests of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang for the first time in their careers.

Sportslogos.net found a "special edition" line of t shirts from the NHL and Fanatics. There have been no indication that the old logo will be incorporated into the new third-jersey but it's a good bet that they could bring it back.

Two season ago the Penguins had a reverse retro jersey.

It was a white jersey with diagonal lettering like the away jerseys they started wearing in 1993.

Last year the team brought back the black diagonal Pittsburgh lettering jersey, much to the delight of many fans.

The "RoboPenguin" divided the fan base back in the early 90s with the organization changing the logo fresh off winning back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships.

When Mario Lemieux bought the Penguins, the team started to incorporate the skating Penguins in front of a gold background.

The team used a "Vegas Gold" in their uniforms until going back to the original black and gold in 2017.
