Former Pirates pitcher Oliver Perez plans to retire from baseball after the 2022 season.

Perez first started playing with the San Diego Padres in 2002 and was traded to the Pirates, along with outfielder Jason Bay in August 2003 for Brian Giles.

He spent the next two and a half seasons with Pittsburgh, going 21-28 with a 4.59 ERA in 70 starts.

Perez was traded to the New York Mets along with pitcher Roberto Hernandez for Xavier Nady in July 2006.

Perez also spent time with Cleveland, Arizona, Washington, Seattle and Houston.

His lifetime ERA in the MLB is 4.32 with 73-93 record. Perez transferred over to a relief pitcher with Seattle in 2012.

Perez is currently with the Toros de Tijuana team of the Mexican League so the 40-year-old Culiacan, Mexico native's farewell tour won't be interrupted by the current Major League lockout.
