Oneil Cruz will show off his power in Home Run Derby
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz has been named to the home run derby next week in Atlanta.
"He's a freak and you put freaks on display," said former Pirates catcher Michael McKenry on 93.7 The Fan.
While it's been claimed the home run derby has messed hitters up, McKenry says it could be something that helps Cruz past the All-Star break.
"I hope getting into this home run derby and maybe just even the announcement of it or practicing it, you can't swing hard because it's timed," McKenry tells Bob Pompeani. "It's not 10 outs anymore, you kind of have to pace yourself and this is a guy that's going to help a ton."
Cruz has the ability to launch home runs in impressive fashion, well over 100 mph off the bat.
His ability to crush a ball without much effort is just a part of the must-watch Cruz brings to the derby.
The annual home run derby will take place on Monday, July 14.
Cruz is currently batting .203 with 15 home runs this season.
He also has the highest exit velocity in the MLB. It should be quite the show!
