East Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - An East Hartford restaurant has had its liquor permit suspended following an incident last weekend.

The word came down Tuesday from the state Department of Consumer Protection for Humacao Restaurant and Lounge.

The summary suspension comes following the death of a man last Saturday.

He was found shot inside at the Silver Lane eatery.

Police say a large crowd had gathered that caused what they say were "significant challenges".

The town's police chief says officers had responded to the restaurant 19 times over the last five years.

Chief Mack Hawkins says presently, “the establishment poses an immediate danger to customers, neighbors, motorists, and responding police officers".

The restaurant can still serve food.
