The Padres broke out the long ball on Friday night, blasting three home runs en route to a 7-3 win over the Athletics. After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the 1st inning, the Padres immediately erased the deficit on Manny Machado's 2-run homer in the bottom of the 1st. The Athletics jumped back on top on Henry Bolte's 4th inning RBI-single, but their lead didn't last long, as Nick Castellanos blasted a solo home run off the side of the Western Metal Building in the 5th. With the score tied at 3 in the bottom of the 7th inning, Ramon Laureno hit a go-ahead solo home run, which was only the Padres' third hit of the night, with all three going over the fence. The Padres added three insurance runs in the 8th inning, and Jeremiah Estrada preserved a 4-run lead in the 9th inning to close out the 7-3 victory. Lucas Giolito will make his second start for the Padres on Saturday.
