The Phillies finished off a sweep of the Padres at Petco Park with a 3-0 win on Wednesday afternoon. Walker Buehler pitched efficiently, carrying a shutout into the 6th inning. After retiring the first batter of the inning, Buehler gave up a single to Justin Crawford and then hit Edmundo Sosa with a pitch, putting two runners on with one out for Kyle Schwarber. Despite having thrown just 58 pitches, Craig Stammen opted to aggressively use his bullpen and avoid Buehler facing Schwarber for a third time, and brought in Adrian Morejon to face the lefty slugger. Schwarber proceeded to single to right field and plate the first run of the game. Trea Turner then hit a fielder's choice to shortstop, bringing home Sosa and giving the Phillies a 2-run lead. Turner added a solo home run in the top of the 9th inning to give the Phillies a 3-0 victory. The Padres now head to Washington D.C. for a matchup with the Nationals beginning on Friday.
