Furman University Undergraduate Evening Studies will offer a new course format to its students during the summer term, where classes will be offered in either one weekend per month sessions, or fully online.
As part of the pilot format, some assignments and peer and teacher interactions will be conducted through an online course management system and video conferencing. The weekend sessions will be utilized to maximize immersive activities.
Participants in the new format will not only be able to take more classes at a more manageable rate, but they will enjoy the convenience of fewer trips to campus. Students will have the option to take 2–3 courses in the summer, which will meet minimum financial aid requirements for those who qualify and can speed up the completion time for a degree.
“For 65 years Furman has offered access to its rigorous education to working adults in the community,” Crews said. “If the pilot format is successful, it will be yet another way we can meet students’ need for affordable, convenient and tailored learning experiences.”
Registration deadline for new summer enrollment is April 15.
