A jury is deliberating in the trial of Nathaniel Dixon, accused of killing a pregnant Candice Pickens and shooting her 3 year old son in the head. Dixon was arrested in May 2016 after police found Pickens body and her critically wounded son in Jones Park in Asheville. The Pickens' family said they had been celebrating the 3 year olds birthday a few short hours before the shooting. Dixon was charged with first degree murder, first degree murder of an unborn child, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and attempted first degree murder. Jury deliberations continue today.
