Plans for a A High Speed Rail system through the Upstate is gaining momentum!

The Federal Railroad Administration and the Georgia D-O-T held a hearing at Greenville County Square Wednesday evening, to gauge the publics interest and discuss 3 proposed routes for the Train connecting Atlanta to Charlotte and eventually Atlanta to Washington D.C.

Costs for each route range from 2 Billion to 13 Billion. But, what peaks most peoples interest... travel time!

The train would run between 90 and 150 miles per hour. Officials say a trip on the train from Atlanta to Charlotte would take about 2 hours, if the proposed shortest route of the 3 is implemented.

The longest route would take 5 1/2 hours... which would include stops in Clemson, Greer and Spartanburg. If your immediate reaction is to rail against the Rail, check it out for yourself, on the Georgia Department of Transportation website.
