SPARTANBURG, S.C. (August 19, 2020) – Converse College’s Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) program is celebrating multiple milestones.

The MMFT program is adding three new staff members to its core faculty.

In addition, its teaching clinic partner, EMERGE Family Therapy and Teaching Clinic, has opened a new site in Greenville.

With the addition of another site in Greenville at the University of Greenville Center campus, EMERGE will now have two functioning COAMFTE-accredited clinics and teaching centers.

Students in the MMFT program at Converse can work in either of these locations to complete their required 500 hours of client contact and provide quality mental health care to a diverse range of clients.

“The goal is to make it more of a well-known program in the country but also have the upstate South Carolina feel,” said Department Chair Dr. Evan Thomas, on the program’s commitment to continuing to grow and stay true to its roots in the upstate community.

He hopes to continue to strengthen this partnership and provide students with the opportunity to learn the importance of serving clients from all walks of life.

Both the addition of new faculty members and the opening of EMERGE’s Greenville site show that the MMFT program at Converse is expanding and benefiting from its partnership with EMERGE.
