A man is now facing serious charges after allegedly driving under the influence before crashing and killing his passenger.
This comes out of Oconee County, where troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol say Jason Scott Holbroooks was driving a Ford Explorer just past 7 pm along US-76, heading east, when he drove the SUV off the right side of the road. As he overcorrected, Holbrooks caused the car to flip over.
Neither he nor his passenger were wearing seatbelts, and both were ejected from the vehicle.
The passenger, 47 year old Chrystal Gail Holbrooks of Westminster, died on the scene.
No word yet on if or how the driver and passenger were related.
Jason Holbrooks, the driver, was life-flighted to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Troopers later arrested Holbrooks and charged him with felony driving under the influence resulting in death and his third offense of driving with a suspended license.
