No food fouls this Sunday!
Offensive line-ups getting set for Sunday… chips, dips, guac (guacamole) will be part of the spread… the National Chicken Council reports Americans will chow down on more than 1 billion wings.
So the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture is lining up the defense, to help stop the spread of food borne illness with these simple steps.
Wash your hands.
DON'T wash wings and other raw meat.
The USDA says that increases the spread of germs. Remember to cook meat to an internal temp to 145 degrees and chicken to 165 degrees.
Don't let foods cross that line of scrimmage, use separate cutting boards for raw meats and veggies and don't bench food at room temperature for more than two hours.
Most bacteria grow between 40 and 140 degrees.
Get your Sunday game plan together with the USDA's play card.
