The Greenville County Sheriff's Office issued the following press release Tuesday.
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 48 year-old, Dean Thomas Berry in connection with the May 6th shooting death of Michael Barbare. Investigators responded to 131 Kings Country Lane yesterday afternoon after Berry called 911 stating that he had just shot the victim.
Once deputies arrived on scene, they located the victim in the driveway with at least one gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently pronounced deceased on scene.
During the course of investigation, investigators learned that Berry and the victim were familiar with each other; however the reason for Berry shooting the victim is still under investigation.
Berry has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on a temporary bond.
