Two more suspects believed to be involved in the murder of a 16-year-old honor student have been arrested.

The shooting death of Mauldin High School student and football player Joshua Meeks shocked the community, after his body was found on the side of the road.

Now the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced a 16-year-old suspect is behind bars, charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, armed robbery and grand larceny. That’s according to the suspect’s arrest warrants.

The name of the suspect is not being released at this time due to his age, according to Lt. Ryan Flood, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.  The suspect was denied bond after appearing before a magistrate at the Greenville County jail.

The suspect’s own mother reportedly brought him to the Sheriff’s Office, where he was arrested.

Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have also arrested 18 year-old, Lyric Mone Lawson, in connection with the shooting death.  Lawson has been charged with Accessory after the Fact to Murder, following an investigation that implicated Lawson’s involvement by assisting a co-defendant with concealing and transporting the victim’s body after he was murdered.  Lawson was arrested this afternoon and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center where she awaits a bond hearing.

On Thursday, investigators also arrested Sosa Maniez Croft, age 18, after finding him hiding under his own bed in his apartment.

Flood said the murder of Meeks occurred during a drug deal, but declined to elaborate.
