CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A famous Chicago product is heading into new territory.
Garrett Popcorn is launching into Chicagoland grocers for the first time in its 71-year history.
Garrett is also introducing four new flavors "that set the bar (yet again) for indulgent gourmet popcorn that make you wonder: is it a snack or is it a dessert?"
The company said the four new flavors were inspired by its world-renowned CaramelCrisp recipe, which Garrett Popcorn has perfected for over 70 years right here in Chicago. They include: S’mores, Simply Strawberry, Simply Cocoa, and Simply Matcha.
Several chains across the Chicagoland area will carry Garret Popcorn, including Binny’s Beverage Depot, Big Apple Finer Foods in Lincoln Park, and Potash Markets downtown, and Sunset Foods and Pete’s Fresh Market in the suburbs.
“With more people staying at home this holiday season and beyond, shoppers are looking to refresh the snack options in the kitchen cupboard,” says Adrienne Kardosh, SVP of Marketing. “Fans have been asking Garrett to make an item for grocery stores, and now, more people have more opportunities to enjoy Garrett Popcorn when the cravings strike.”
Each bag of popcorn is individually sealed- and resealable- to keep kernels fresh. Prices vary by retailer, around $6.49 per bag.
Garrett Popcorn is still never mass produced in factories and always cooked in their kitchens. Their kernels are always hot-air popped - never in oil, and are still handcrafted in copper kettles as they’ve been doing since 1949.
