Belton Preparatory Academy outperformed statewide achievement rates for Math, English/Language Arts, and Science for the 2020-2021 academic year. Despite being a Title I school and facing the educational challenges due to COVID, BPA ranked in the top 1% for math, top 2% for ELA, and top 10% for science among all elementary schools in the state, according to the 2020-2021 South Carolina Department of Education’s Annual School and District Report Card.

“Since its inception in 2018, BPA’s goal has been to become a premier school in South Carolina,” stated Deirdre McCullough, Executive Director of Belton Preparatory Academy.  “With a laser focus on data- driven instruction and standard mastery, our students hit the mark their first year of testing, outperforming the state averages in math by 39.7 %, ELA by 35.8%, and science by 25.1%.”  BPA had 83.9% of students meeting or exceeding SC Ready standards in math, ranking it 6th among SC elementary schools. In ELA, 78.4% met or exceeded SC Ready standards, placing the school 11th among 667 SC elementary schools. Based upon these scores, Belton Preparatory Academy is the top performing Title I elementary school in South Carolina.

“Our SC Report Card scores reflect the commitment, dedication and hard work of our students, faculty, staff, and parents. It was a team effort, a family affair,” stated McCullough. “Our unrelenting focus on academic excellence and character development throughout the school is delivering impressive educational results, and we’re extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”
