What have been described as human trafficking related investigations have ramped up in recent months in the Upstate. Earlier this year, a Mexican restaurant in Oconee County was the target one of those such investigations. In Greenville, police have been investigating multiple massage spas in relation to human trafficking.
While the owner of one such spa, an immigrant was arrested for running a brothel and two arrests happened in the previously mentioned restaurant raid, none of those arrested were charged with actual human trafficking.
