An appeal to reduce the bond amount for a former Upstate police officer accused of sexual assault has been denied. Gerard Hildebrandt, who worked as an officer for the Travelers Rest Police Department was in court, Friday morning for a bond hearing.
As we previously reported, Hildebrandt was arrested last month and faces charges of criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office. He's accused of sexually assaulting a woman on the campus of Travelers Rest High School, while working as an officer.
Hildebrandt was fired by the TRPD after SLED began investigating the allegations. The judge denied the appeal and Hildebrandt remains in custody on a $150,000 bond.
Well known attorney Bakari Sellars of the Columbia based Strom law Firm is representing Hildebrandt's accuser.
