
An Upstate School District has broken ground on a new school building. Spartanburg School District 5 says construction is underway at a new middle school in Duncan. The school which still remains unnamed is expected to open in 2024. The new construction is part of the district’s plan to build new facilities and expand existing ones.

District 5 is expecting increased growth in the coming years and they are being proactive to meet the needs associated with the growth. The District’s construction plan comes with a nearly $300 million dollar price tag. Voters in that district approved a referendum in November. The new middle school is one of two new schools in the district’s plan, they also have expansion plans for existing schools.
